Amnesty International reports mass arrests and executions amid heightened repression in Iran

Amnesty International says Iranian authorities have intensified repression by invoking “war‑time conditions”, leading to arbitrary arrests of over 6,000 people—including protesters, journalists and dissidents—since the February attacks by the United States and Israel. The organization reports that 39 detainees have been sentenced to death for political reasons.

Amnesty calls on the international community to take diplomatic action, warning that the crackdown has been compounded by an internet blackout that hampers verification of abuses. The campaign also features actress Marisa Laurito urging supporters to consider legacy donations to sustain Amnesty’s human‑rights work.

Spokesperson Riccardo Noury emphasized that the repression, which began in early 2026, threatens the future of many Iranians and will require a prolonged struggle for rights.
