Ampol to acquire Evie Networks for $225 million
Ampol has signed a share sale agreement to acquire 100 per cent of Fast Cities Australia Pty Ltd, the operator of Evie Networks, for $225 million. The acquisition is intended to significantly expand Ampol’s electric vehicle (EV) charging footprint, adding more than 1,030 charging bays across approximately 400 sites to its existing network.
Following the deal, the combined AmpCharge and Evie network will consist of roughly 1,425 charging bays, making it one of the largest public EV charging platforms in Australia. Ampol CEO Matt Halliday stated that the move is a disciplined investment aimed at capturing growth as EV adoption increases, noting that electric vehicles have averaged more than 20 per cent of new car sales in Australia over the last five months.
The transaction is subject to clearance by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027. Until the deal closes, Ampol and Evie will continue to operate as independent entities.
