Ampol acquisition of Evie Networks
Overview
Ampol has entered into a share sale agreement to acquire 100 per cent of Fast Cities Australia Pty Ltd, the operator of Evie Networks, for $225 million. The acquisition is intended to expand Ampol’s electric vehicle (EV) charging footprint, adding more than 1,030 charging bays across approximately 400 sites to its existing AmpCharge network.
If the deal receives clearance from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the combined platform will consist of roughly 1,425 charging bays. Ampol expects the acquisition to contribute more than $30 million in annual earnings within three years, alongside $10 million in projected cost synergies. The move follows a trend of rising EV adoption in Australia, where electric vehicles have averaged more than 20 per cent of new car sales over recent months.
The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027, with Ampol and Evie continuing to operate as independent entities until the deal closes.
