Ampol to acquire Evie Networks for $225 million

Ampol has agreed to acquire Evie Networks, operated by Fast Cities Australia, for $225 million. The acquisition, conducted through its subsidiary Ampol Energy, aims to significantly expand the company’s electric vehicle (EV) charging footprint across Australia.

If approved by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, the deal will add more than 1,030 charging bays to Ampol’s existing AmpCharge network. This would result in a combined platform of approximately 1,425 charging bays across more than 400 sites nationally. Ampol expects the new business to contribute more than $30 million in annual earnings within three years, alongside $10 million in projected cost synergies.

The move follows rising EV adoption in Australia, with EVs accounting for an average of over 20 per cent of new vehicle sales in the five months preceding the announcement. Ampol reported that charging sessions on its AmpCharge network increased 116 per cent year-on-year during the first half of 2026. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027.
