Amsterdam police rule out identity match for mystery man ‘Lucky’

Amsterdam police have confirmed that the unidentified man known as ‘Lucky’ is not John Russell Kenny, a Vancouver man who has been missing since 1994. The conclusion was reached after a joint investigation between Dutch and Canadian authorities, which included fingerprint analysis that proved the two men are different people.

Lucky was found collapsed on a street in Amsterdam in May 2023. He suffered a brain hemorrhage or stroke and continues to live with aphasia, a condition that impairs his ability to communicate. Because he lacks personal identification, his identity remains unknown.

Following the release of a video regarding his case, Amsterdam police received over 500 tips. Detectives are currently investigating at least nine new leads based on specific names provided by the public.
