ANA finalizes Super Flyers Card redesign with new spending tiers
All Nippon Airways (ANA) has finalized the redesign of its Super Flyers Card (SFC) program, set to launch on April 1, 2028. The new structure categorizes members into ‘SFC PLUS’ and ‘SFC LITE’ based on annual spending of ANA cards and ANA Pay.
Under the new rules, members with annual spending of 3 million yen or more will qualify for SFC PLUS, maintaining Star Alliance Gold status. Those spending less than 3 million yen will be classified as SFC LITE, which results in a downgrade to Star Alliance Silver status. While LITE members will lose Gold status, ANA has revised its previous plan to allow them access to domestic ANA lounges when they are not crowded, rather than imposing a blanket ban.
ANA explained that the 3-million-yen threshold was maintained to manage lounge congestion. The airline noted that approximately 60% of SFC members fall into the LITE category, and a significant portion of lounge usage is driven by members who do not frequently fly but hold the card. The company aims to shift the program from a ‘card to hold’ to a ‘card to use,’ focusing on maximizing customer lifetime value through active spending.
