ANA finalizes Super Flyers Card redesign for 2028

Overview

ANA Holdings has finalized the redesign of its Super Flyers Card (SFC) program, scheduled to launch on April 1, 2028. The program categorizes members into ‘SFC PLUS’ and ‘SFC LITE’ tiers based on annual spending via ANA cards and ANA Pay.

Following significant member backlash regarding the initial proposal, ANA announced a revised plan on September 29. While the 3-million-yen spending threshold remains, the airline adjusted its lounge policy. Under the original plan, those spending less than 3 million yen would be downgraded to Star Alliance Silver and lose all ANA lounge access. The revised terms now allow ‘SFC LITE’ members limited access to domestic ANA lounges when they are not crowded, rather than imposing a blanket ban.

Despite these adjustments, the downgrade of Star Alliance status for members below the spending threshold remains part of the structure. ANA stated the threshold is intended to manage lounge congestion, noting that approximately 60% of SFC members currently fall into the ‘LITE’ category. The airline aims to transition the program from a ‘card to hold’ to a ‘card to use’ to maximize customer lifetime value.

To support these changes, ANA plans to expand domestic lounge facilities at Haneda Airport’s Terminal 2 during fiscal year 2027 and is considering a user management or reservation system. Additionally, ANA is offering special provisions for former SFC members to rejoin the program through March 2027.
