ANACIM issues thunderstorm warning for multiple regions of Senegal

The National Agency of Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACIM) has issued a weather warning for Senegal, forecasting thunderstorms and heavy rain across much of the country from the afternoon of 24 July through the night of 26 July. The advisory lists several regions expected to experience the first storms, including Dakar, Thiès, Diourbel, Fatick, Kaolack, Kaffrine, Kédougou, Tambacounda, Matam, Ziguinchor, Kolda and Sédhiou, with the northern areas remaining relatively dry.

ANACIM urges residents in the most exposed zones to monitor official bulletins and exercise caution. Farmers are advised to continue sowing but to delay weeding until the rain eases, while road users are warned of reduced visibility and possible flooding. Fishermen are asked to check forecasts before heading out to sea. The agency emphasizes that the storms could produce locally intense rainfall, posing risks of temporary flooding and landslides, and calls for heightened vigilance throughout the affected regions.
