ANACIM warns of heavy rain and thunderstorms across Senegal July 12‑18, 2026
The National Agency of Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACIM) issued a special bulletin forecasting intense rain‑storm activity over much of Senegal between 12 July and 18 July 2026. Two main periods are expected: a first episode on 12‑13 July affecting southern, eastern and central regions, and a second, more widespread episode on 16‑18 July that could bring locally strong rains across the centre, east and south. A brief transition phase on 14‑15 July may still see isolated showers and thunderstorms.
ANACIM urged heightened vigilance. It advised candidates for the national BFEM exams to plan travel carefully, farmers to continue seeding while monitoring conditions, motorists to beware of reduced visibility and slippery roads, and fishermen to consult forecasts before heading out. Residents in flood‑prone areas were specifically warned to stay alert to the risk of flooding and landslides.
