ANAF uncovers 22‑million‑lei tax fraud at Galaţi waste firm
Inspectors of the Directorate General for Anti‑Fraud of the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) identified fictitious expenses amounting to 22 million lei at a metal‑waste company in Galaţi. The expenses were recorded through a lease contract for an extravilan land parcel that was priced far above market value and never actually used for its intended purpose. The overvalued lease allowed the company’s associate to receive inflated payments, reducing the firm’s assets and resulting in a loss of more than 3.6 million lei in profit tax for the state. After completing the investigation, ANAF forwarded the evidence to prosecutors for criminal investigation.
