Anaheim Ducks negotiate $16‑$17 million contract for forward Cutter Gauthier

Cutter Gauthier, the Anaheim Ducks' 21‑year‑old restricted free agent, is in contract talks with the club. NHL insider Anthony Di Marco said the deal will likely be worth about $16‑$17 million per season, stating, "I think they get it done. I think it probably comes around $16, 17 million dollars per season."

Gauthier entered negotiations after teammates Leo Carlsson and Connor Bedard signed long‑term extensions worth $90 million (five years, $18 M AAV) and $75 million (five years, $15 M AAV) respectively. The forward finished the 2025‑26 season with 41 goals and 69 points, becoming the fourth player in Ducks history to score 40+ goals in a season and helping the team reach the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Because he is not eligible for an offer sheet, only the Ducks can negotiate his contract. The negotiations may force the club to adjust its salary cap, potentially moving players such as Chris Kreider or Frank Vatrano to accommodate Gauthier's expected salary.
