Anaheim Ducks sign Cutter Gauthier to six-year, $81 million extension

The Anaheim Ducks have signed forward Cutter Gauthier to a six-year contract extension worth $81 million. The deal carries an annual average value of $13.5 million, which is lower than the $15 million figure rumored during summer negotiations.

To accommodate Gauthier’s contract under the salary cap, the Ducks terminated the contract of veteran forward Chris Kreider, clearing his $6.5 million cap hit. Kreider subsequently signed with the Montreal Canadiens. While the deal secures Gauthier through the 2031-32 season, the shorter six-year term was a factor in lowering the annual cap hit compared to a potential eight-year agreement.

As the organization prepares for the 2026-27 season, the Ducks are scheduled to begin training camp this week. Sessions will include public on-ice practices at Great Park Ice in Irvine and a Fan Camp featuring a scrimmage.
