Anak Krakatau authorities intensify patrols to enforce volcanic safety zones
Joint authorities have intensified patrols in the waters surrounding Anak Krakatau in South Lampung to prevent residents and tourists from entering designated danger zones. The patrol team includes the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA), the South Lampung Police Water Police (Satpolair), the Lampung Regional Police Water Police (Ditpolair), and medical personnel.
A mandatory safety zone has been established at a three-kilometer radius from the center of the Anak Krakatau crater to mitigate risks from dynamic volcanic activity. During recent patrols, officers encountered a fisherman operating within the prohibited radius and provided both warnings and masks to protect against potential volcanic material exposure.
Authorities are collaborating with local tourism managers, boat captains, and community members to ensure vessels do not breach the restricted area. Large warning banners have also been installed at strategic locations to remind visitors of the safety boundaries.
