Anambra State police arrest two women for child abuse

Police in Anambra State, Nigeria, have arrested two women in connection with separate incidents of severe child abuse.

Ogechi Ofoma, 32, was apprehended in Obosi after allegedly torturing her seven-year-old daughter, Oluebube Ofoma, with a hot knife. The abuse reportedly occurred after the child was accused of taking meat from a cooking pot. The girl was rescued by community security personnel and residents, and is receiving medical care and welfare support in collaboration with the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare.

In a separate case, Anulika Onyeanusia, 36, was arrested in Onitsha for the alleged sexual abuse of her daughter and for distributing the content online for profit. Investigators reportedly used open-source intelligence to locate her. During the operation, police rescued four children aged between two and nine years. Onyeanusia allegedly admitted to receiving approximately $300 from an overseas client for the content.
