Anambra youths begin training to monitor public infrastructure

Fifty youths from all 21 local government areas in Anambra State have commenced a six-month training program to monitor and document over 100 public infrastructure projects. The initiative, known as the Anambra Youth Accountability Hub (AYAH), is implemented by the Creative Minds Center for Youth and Community Development (CM-CYCD) with support from the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF).

The training, held in Awka, covers essential skills including public budget tracking, procurement monitoring, data collection, and the Freedom of Information Act. Project Lead Ugochi Freeman stated that the goal is to promote constructive engagement and transparency rather than to confront or embarrass public officials.

Professor Ebuka Nwankwo, Director of the Anambra State Project Evaluation, Monitoring and Supervision Unit, noted that the fellows will serve as additional eyes and voices in their communities to help the government identify implementation gaps and improve service delivery.
