Anas Extends One‑Way Traffic on SS113 to Aug 7, Reopens Monte Pergola South Tunnel Aug 1

The Italian road authority Anas has extended the alternating one‑way traffic order on State Road 113 (SS113) between km 92+000 and km 92+400, covering the stretch from Gioiosa Marea to Piraino, until 7 August. The extension follows ongoing discussions with the municipalities of Gioiosa Marea and Piraino and will later allow minibuses under six tonnes to use the route, easing local transport between Gioiosa Marea, Brolo and Patti. Mayors Giusi La Galia and Salvatore Cipriano acknowledged the inconvenience caused by nearby works and thanked the contractor Magistro for maintaining connections.

Separately, Anas will open the modernised south tube of the Monte Pergola tunnel on 1 August at 06:00. The tunnel, part of the RA2 motorway between Serino and Solofra, will again accommodate heavy‑vehicle traffic in both directions after a €42 million refurbishment that included new reinforced‑concrete lining, widened lanes, safety barriers and upgraded lighting. The tunnel will be closed from 31 July 22:00 to 1 August 06:00, with traffic diverted to alternative routes during the final safety checks.
