Anchorage Digital Bank adds Etherlink and tokenized uranium custody

Anchorage Digital Bank, the first federally chartered crypto bank in the United States, has expanded its institutional custody services to include assets on the Etherlink layer-2 network. This expansion allows regulated clients to hold Etherlink-issued tokens through segregated accounts, providing a bank-grade framework for digital asset storage.

A notable addition to this offering is the xU3O8 token, which provides tokenized exposure to physical uranium. The xU3O8 token represents physical uranium yellowcake stored at Cameco facilities under an English trust structure supervised by Archax. By utilizing the Etherlink network, which is built on Tezos, the tokenization process aims to reduce settlement times from weeks to minutes.

While the move facilitates easier access to nuclear energy-related assets for regulated funds, the market for xU3O8 remains small, with a market capitalization of approximately $9 million. Other supported Etherlink assets include wrapped and liquid staking variants such as WXTZ and stXTZ, stablecoins like USDT, USDC, and USDSM, and wrapped Ether (WETH).
