Ancona launches parenting support programs for child development

The Municipality of Ancona, in collaboration with I. C. A. R. O. APS and with support from the Marche Region, has launched ‘Il Tempo di Crescere’ (The Time to Grow). This initiative is part of the ‘Genitori in FormAzione’ project, designed to assist parents in navigating communication challenges and evolving educational models with children and adolescents.

The project offers two distinct structured paths conducted by psychologists, teachers, and educators. The first path focuses on children aged 0-6, held at the Centro per le Famiglie in Ancona. The second path focuses on adolescence, held at the 1° Circoscrizione Comunale. Both programs utilize a participatory and experiential approach in small groups to foster awareness, listening skills, and authentic family relationships.

In addition to these formal programs, developmental guidance emphasizes fostering autonomy in children through age-appropriate tasks. For children aged 2-3, this includes organizing toys and eating independently. Between ages 4-5, tasks may include dressing themselves or setting the table, while older children aged 6-10 can take on more complex responsibilities like preparing breakfast or cleaning. Such activities are intended to develop motor skills, self-esteem, and organizational abilities within the family unit.
