Spain expects 1.6 million tons of olive oil production for 2026/27 campaign
Spain's preliminary estimates for the 2026/2027 olive oil campaign project a national production of approximately 1.6 million tons, representing a 23% increase compared to the previous season. Agriculture Minister Luis Planas noted that favorable spring weather, characterized by mild temperatures and abundant rainfall, has supported strong flowering and fruit setting.
Andalusia is expected to be the primary driver of this growth, with an estimated production of 1.26 million tons, accounting for nearly 79% of the national total. This figure marks a 29% increase over the previous campaign. Within the region, the province of Jaén is projected to lead with 575,000 tons, followed by Córdoba with 339,700 tons and Sevilla with 142,000 tons.
Other significant producers include Castilla-La Mancha, with an estimated 152,000 tons, and Extremadura, with 97,300 tons. However, officials cautioned that these figures are preliminary. The final yield remains subject to upcoming weather conditions, particularly the impact of summer heat on dryland olive groves, which could affect oil content and overall production.
