Andalusia allocates funds for storm‑damage repairs in Huelva and emergency works at Medina Azahara

The regional government of Andalusia has earmarked €307,000 to restore public amenities in the Sierra de Huelva after severe storms. Works in the municipalities of Encinasola, Los Marines, Corteconcepción, Aracena and Santa Olalla del Cala focus on repairing trails, recreational areas and other natural spaces, with all tasks nearly finished except for the last site, now over 90 % complete. The broader territorial sustainability delegation has invested a total of €3.6 million in public infrastructure, forest roads and livestock routes throughout Huelva province.

Separately, the Andalusian cabinet declared a state of emergency for two heritage projects at the tenth‑century Medina Azahara complex. Budgets of €91,436.88 and €60,178.19 are allocated to stabilize the Dar al‑Mulk retaining wall and the low‑round path, respectively, after storms from December 2025 to February 2026 caused erosion, rock fall and structural instability that threatened both the monument and personnel working there. Emergency measures include manual debris removal, consolidation of the rock face and construction of a masonry wall to protect the foundation.
