Spain agricultural and public sector updates: exports, aid, and hiring
Various economic and environmental developments are impacting the Spanish agricultural and public sectors. In Lleida, forage exports such as dehydrated alfalfa and oats are projected to exceed 600,000 tons this year, primarily destined for South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.
In Andalusia, the regional government has announced several aid packages. Over 9.5 million euros are being mobilized for the fishing and aquaculture sectors to compensate for temporary halts in activity. Additionally, 12 million euros are allocated to support the agro-industry following damage from storms in late 2025 and early 2026. Emergency works worth 8.4 million euros have also been approved to repair riverbeds in Almería and Huelva to mitigate hydrological risks following summer wildfires.
In the public sector, Canal Sur (RTVA) has launched its first major recruitment process in nearly two decades, offering 228 permanent positions through a four-phase selection process. Meanwhile, in Segovia, 31 agricultural and livestock producers will receive direct aid to recover from summer forest fires.
