Andalusia approves new urban plans for Arcos and Sevilla port development

The regional government of Andalusia has moved forward with two major urban planning initiatives. In the municipality of Arcos, the town council and the Junta de Andalucía have set up an inter‑administrative coordination table to speed the drafting and processing of the new General Municipal Planning Plan (PGOM) and Urban Planning Plan (POU). The working group, which includes representatives from the territorial delegation, the municipal urbanism department and the planning firm, will streamline required reports and aim for final approval of the plan that will guide Arcos' development for years to come.

Separately, the Junta has given definitive approval to a modification of Sevilla's General Urban Plan for the Avenida de las Razas area of the port. The amendment permits the construction of up to 700 new housing units—226 of them designated as protected—along with public amenities, green spaces and a central plaza. The development will reduce floor‑area ratio by 30%, integrate the port with the city and feature residential towers of up to 14 storeys. Both projects reflect the regional authority's push to align urban growth with sustainable and strategic planning.
