Andalusia establishes new housing ministry to develop Malaga social housing

The Andalusian regional government has established a specialized regional ministry of housing, led by Rocío Díaz, to address the housing crisis in the region.

In Malaga, the Junta is focusing on several pending social housing projects located on government-owned land. A review of these sites indicates that approximately 300 social housing units have been awaiting construction for many years.

The Andalusian housing and renovation agency (AVRA) has approved a land auction plan for this year. This plan includes sites in the El Molinillo and Victoria areas, with a total of 232 social housing flats intended to be handed over to private developers. Other plots in the La Trinidad area remain subject to ongoing discussions with the local city council regarding municipal infrastructure projects.
