Andalusia expands innovation network and backs new next‑gen data centre

The Corporación Tecnológica de Andalucía (CTA) approved a strategic shift to open membership to any entity committed to innovation, extending its base beyond technology firms. President Beltrán Pérez said, “CTA proposes forming a community with a shared purpose around innovation as a driver of development, competitiveness and public‑private collaboration.” The board also appointed Leonardo Bueno as the new director general, succeeding long‑time chief Elías Atienza, to lead CTA’s 2026‑2029 plan.

Separately, the Junta de Andalucía endorsed the SP01 project, the region’s first next‑generation data centre, with a ground‑breaking ceremony in Escúzar. Delegate Antonio Granados highlighted the facility’s uniqueness, noting it will be “unique in the province of Granada and in Andalusia for its magnitude and power.” SP01 is intended to become a key node for artificial‑intelligence research and to strengthen Andalusia’s digital ecosystem.

Both initiatives are part of a broader push to boost innovation, digitalisation and AI capabilities across Andalusia.
