Andalusia fires prompt parliamentary demands for accountability

Regional political parties in Andalusia have called for parliamentary scrutiny following two recent fire incidents. The PSOE‑A demanded that President Juanma Moreno of the regional government appear before the Andalusian Parliament to explain the response to the Los Gallardos wildfire in Almería that killed 13 people and injured seven, noting that the vice‑president Antonio Sanz is slated to testify instead.

Separately, the Por Andalucía parliamentary group asked the commissioner for the Doñana Plan to appear and report on the handling of a fire that broke out on 6 July in a migrant settlement at Palos de la Frontera, which left more than 300 residents without homes and prompted questions about the implementation of the regional strategy to eradicate informal settlements and the use of over €20 million in social investments.
