Andalusia forest fires extinguished in La Carolina and stabilized in Órgiva
In the La Carolina area of Los Guindos, a forest fire declared at 12:33 was brought under control after a massive response that included a heavy helicopter from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, two light amphibious aircraft, seven forest‑fire groups, two operation technicians, an environmental officer and three fire‑engine trucks. By the afternoon the blaze was declared extinguished and aerial resources were no longer required.
Separately, a fire in the Galeón sector of Órgiva (Granada province) prompted the preventive evacuation of twelve foreign residents from rural premises and temporary closures of road 348. About 42 firefighters and three fire‑engine trucks worked through the night despite temperatures exceeding 34 °C. By early Sunday the fire was reported as stabilized, reducing the immediate threat.
Both incidents were managed by the regional fire‑prevention plan (Infoca), which has been scaling its resources across Andalusia in response to extreme heat warnings issued by the national meteorological agency.
