Spain allocates over €1.2 billion to renewable energy projects

The Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has approved several funding rounds for renewable energy under the EU NextGenerationEU recovery plan. A €2.53 million grant will support four photovoltaic projects in Almería, while a €58.3 million allocation will fund 48 innovative renewable projects across Andalusia, including agrivoltaic and floating solar installations.

A major €612 million package (REPOTEN 2) will repower 173 wind farms and hydroelectric plants nationwide, adding 2.433 GW of wind capacity and 1.091 GW of hydro capacity. The second call of the RENOINN programme (RENOINN 2) provides €433.44 million for 524 innovative renewable projects, with a €234 million focus on agrivoltaic systems that combine solar panels with agriculture and storage.

Additional regional support includes €7.5 million for six renewable and storage projects in the province of Burgos (Castilla‑León). All programmes are managed by the Institute for the Diversification and Savings of Energy (IDAE) and aim to accelerate Spain’s clean‑energy transition, attract private investment, and increase storage capacity across the grid.
