Andalusia PP criticizes new regional financing model

Antonio Repullo, Secretary General of the People's Party in Andalusia, has accused María Jesús Montero of “betraying” the region through a new regional financing model. Repullo criticized the system designed by Montero during her tenure as Minister of Finance, arguing that it leaves Andalusia underfunded compared to other territories.

The new model, approved by the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council, increases regional participation in IRPF and IVA tax collections. However, it was passed with only the support of the central government, Catalonia, and the Canary Islands, facing rejection from approximately 90% of Spain's autonomous communities, including Castilla y La Mancha and Asturias.

Repullo further alleged that the agreement was made unilaterally to favor Catalan independence movements in order to maintain Pedro Sánchez in power. He argued that the current scheme privileges wealthy regions and undermines social justice by creating disparities in public service resources between citizens of different autonomous communities.
