Andalusian Beaches and Tourist Offices Receive Blue Flag and Sustainability Certifications

The province of Cádiz was awarded 48 Blue Flag recognitions for its beaches, sport ports and environmental centres for the summer season, in a ceremony chaired by Mercedes Colombo, the Andalusian government delegate. The awards cover 32 beaches, six sport ports and ten interpretation centres across 11 municipalities, representing 4.3% of all Spanish Blue Flags. The regional government highlighted a €87 million investment in coastal and sustainable tourism, complemented by more than €6 million of co‑financing from EU FEADER funds.

In the neighbouring Campo de Gibraltar, six tourism resources—including the tourist information offices of Algeciras, La Línea de la Concepción, Los Barrios, Tarifa and Jimena de la Frontera, as well as the Pinar del Rey park in San Roque—received the "S de Sostenibilidad Turística" certification from the Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality and Sustainability (ICTES). The certification, part of the local Sustainable Tourism Destination Plan funded by EU Next Generation funds, validates good practices in responsible management and will be valid from 17 June 2026 to 16 June 2027.
