Andalusian Forest Fires Trigger Emergency Response and Zoo Closure

Two separate forest fires were declared on Saturday in the province of Seville. One blaze, reported at 11:30 a.m., threatened the Mundo Park zoo in Guillena, forcing the park to close to the public. Emergency crews from the Plan Infoca deployed 32 professionals, a heavy‑lift helicopter, two light amphibious aircraft and a ground water‑tanker to contain the fire. A second fire ignited at 12:00 p.m. in Villanueva del Río y Minas (paraje La Chimenea) and was fought with four aerial assets, including a light helicopter and two load‑carrying planes, and a ground crew of 18 personnel.

A third fire, the Paternilla blaze in the municipality of Vejer de la Frontera (Cádiz), was declared on a Tuesday and was declared extinguished on Friday at 20:35 h after more than two days of monitoring. The fire burned in a sensitive natural area near the Breña and Marismas del Barbate park, prompting continuous surveillance to prevent re‑ignition.
