Andalusian government appoints Adolfina Martínez Guirado as Environment Councilor

The Junta de Andalucía has named Adolfina Martínez Guirado as the new Consejera de Medio Ambiente. Martínez Guirado, a senior civil servant since 2005, holds degrees in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Granada and a master’s in Economics and Development from the University of Sevilla. Her career has been spent in regional ministries, including the Directorate General of European Funds, the Secretariat of Employment, and most recently as Secretary General of Enterprise and Self‑Employment, where she coordinated aid programmes for businesses and freelancers.

In her new portfolio she will oversee environmental policy, the implementation of the Doñana agreement between the regional and national governments, and the final phase of demolishing a disputed hotel in the coastal town of Carboneras.
