Andalusian Government Struggles to Name General Interventor
The regional administration of Andalusia is facing difficulty appointing a new General Interventor, the senior official responsible for auditing public spending and directing senior auditors. The vacancy arose after the resignation of Miguel Ángel Figueroa Teva, who is now under investigation in the PSOE “cloacas” case. An interim Interventor, the most senior civil servant, has been installed while officials search for a permanent appointee.
Vice‑consejera de Hacienda Amelia Martínez Sánchez, a long‑time member of the Junta’s audit corps, is expected to retain her post. The body of intervenors has called for “impartiality and integrity” and an absence of political interference in the selection process.
