Andalusian Health Service to hire 41,639 staff for summer 2026

The Servicio Andaluz de Salud (SAS) has announced a summer hiring programme of 41,639 temporary contracts for 2026, a 14 % increase over the previous year and 31.5 % above 2018 levels. The plan is financed with a €168 million budget, 24.4 % higher than 2025, and covers both clinical and non‑clinical roles: 14,741 nurses, 13,424 TCAE and other technicians, 1,993 doctors, plus 11,480 staff for management, maintenance and hospitality.

Contracts will be distributed across the autonomous community, with the highest numbers in Sevilla (8,205) and Málaga (7,235), followed by Cádiz (6,623), Granada (5,302), Jaén (3,315) and Huelva (2,900). Monthly hiring peaks in August with 14,454 positions and tapers off to 1,368 in October. The summer plan aims to maintain 85.7 % of hospital beds and 75.9 % of operating rooms operational through July‑September, ensuring quality care for the tourist influx.

Unlike a traditional public exam, the contracts are awarded through SAS’s temporary employment pool, based on candidates’ scores, qualifications and seniority. Applicants must be registered in the pool, hold the required health‑sector qualifications, and be EU citizens or have work authorisation in Spain.
