Andalusian health staff protest and police boost security in hospitals
On June 15, more than 30,000 mid‑level and senior technicians of the Andalusian Health Service gathered outside hospitals in the eight provinces of Andalusia, including the Juan Ramón Jiménez Hospital in Huelva, to demand the implementation of the professional reclassification agreement signed in 2022 and recognition of their competencies.
The regional government also announced that the “Unidad Sócrates” police unit in Málaga will be reinforced with 186 additional officers – the first expansion in 13 years – to improve prevention of assaults on health‑care workers, following risk analyses and closer coordination with the health service.
