Andhra Pradesh and Telangana issued heavy rain warnings

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rain warnings for the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana due to a low-pressure system and depression over the Bay of Bengal. The system, located near the south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coast, is expected to intensify and move west-northwestward.

In Andhra Pradesh, northern districts including Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, and Srikakulam face warnings for thunderstorms and lightning. Coastal areas may experience strong winds between 40 to 60 kmph and choppy seas, leading officials to advise fishermen to remain ashore. Other regions such as Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, and West Godavari are expected to see light to moderate showers.

In Telangana, the weather system is predicted to influence conditions through September 14, with the heaviest rainfall anticipated in northern and eastern districts, including Adilabad, Nirmal, and Bhadradri Kothagudem. Light to moderate rain is expected across many parts of the state, with isolated heavy thundershowers possible in specific districts.
