Andhra Pradesh approves Rs 7,469-crore urban infrastructure plan

The Andhra Pradesh government is accelerating large-scale urban infrastructure development, highlighted by a newly approved Rs 7,469.46-crore programme under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). This specific package aims to address a 4,388-km gap in the state's urban road network, with Rs 5,500 crore allocated for core capital works including roads with integrated drains, neighborhood parks, and street lighting.

In the capital region of Amaravati, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana announced that the third phase of works to connect the Seed Access Road with the National Highway, featuring an elevated corridor, is scheduled to begin on August 29. Other major projects in Amaravati include an International Sports City, a new railway line, and an Inner Ring Road.

The broader urban infrastructure pipeline across 123 Urban Local Bodies is valued at approximately Rs 40,743.67 crore, part of the Swarna Andhra 2047 vision. This total excludes an additional Rs 80,000 crore in ongoing projects within the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) area.
