Andhra Pradesh urban infrastructure development
Overview
The Andhra Pradesh government has approved a Rs 7,469.46-crore urban infrastructure programme under the Hybrid Annuity Model to address a 4,388-km gap in the state’s urban road network. The package includes Rs 5,500 crore for core capital works such as roads with integrated drains, street lighting, and neighborhood parks.
In the capital region of Amaravati, construction is set to begin on August 29 for the third phase of works connecting the Seed Access Road with the National Highway, which will feature an elevated corridor. Other planned developments in the region include an Inner Ring Road, a new railway line, and an International Sports City. These efforts are part of a broader Swarna Andhra 2047 vision, which includes an infrastructure pipeline across 123 Urban Local Bodies valued at approximately Rs 40,743.67 crore.
