Andhra Pradesh CM Naidu asks PM Modi to open Bhogapuram International Airport
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and formally invited him to inaugurate the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, Vizianagaram district, on 1 August 2026. During the meeting Naidu introduced TDP MP Kalisetti Appalanaidu, who is known for cycling to Parliament, and Modi praised the MP’s daily bicycle commute.
The airport, projected as a landmark for North Andhra, was first conceived under the Telugu Desam Party in 2014 and expedited by the current coalition, with completion expected within two years. State officials and ministers have conducted high‑level reviews to coordinate logistics, crowd management and security for the inauguration, positioning the new facility as a catalyst for regional economic development.
