India Election Commission extends Odisha SIR deadline, releases Andhra draft rolls
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the deadline for filing claims and objections in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Odisha to 19 August 2026. The notice phase will run until 17 September, and the final roll is scheduled for publication on 21 September 2026.
In Andhra Pradesh, the ECI published draft electoral rolls after the enumeration phase, with 3.71 crore (37.1 million) electors submitting forms. The draft identified 15.22 lakh deceased voters, 22.30 lakh permanently shifted or absent voters, and 7.37 lakh duplicate entries. Voters can submit claims and objections from 31 July to 30 August, with the final roll due on 3 October.
Haryana also released its draft rolls, showing 24.13 lakh voters permanently shifted or absent, 7.66 lakh deceased, and 2.04 lakh duplicate entries. The claims period runs from 31 July to 30 August, with the final roll to be published on 3 October.
In Telangana, 48.3 lakh (14.2 %) of the electorate have been flagged for deletion, mainly due to permanent shifts, deaths, or duplicate registrations. The deadline for the SIR exercise in the state has been extended to 10 August 2026.
