Andrea Stella calls for FIA procedural changes after Gasly podium loss

McLaren Team Principal Andrea Stella is calling for reforms to the FIA’s Right of Review procedure following a lengthy legal dispute regarding the Monaco Grand Prix. The case involved Pierre Gasly, who originally received time penalties that were later revoked, only to have them reinstated months later by the FIA International Court of Appeal after McLaren and Red Bull presented new evidence.

The decision resulted in Gasly losing his podium finish retroactively, a situation Stella describes as problematic for the sport. He noted that such delays affect drivers, teams, and championship standings long after a race has concluded. Stella highlighted three specific areas for improvement: the time constraints and pressure placed on stewards when making decisions, the specific conditions under which a Right of Review should be granted, and the overall enforcement of regulations.

During a press conference at Monza, Stella also addressed accusations made by Alpine advisor Flavio Briatore regarding potential bias among the judges, calling such claims insulting.
