Andrew Scott to star in Elsinore and Pressure

Irish actor Andrew Scott is set to star in the film ‘Elsinore’, portraying Ian Charleson. The film depicts Charleson’s final months as he prepared to play Hamlet at the National Theatre in London while living with AIDS.

Scott, who has performed Hamlet approximately 150 times, described the role as a personal project. The production features an ensemble cast including Olivia Colman, Billie Piper, and Joe Locke. The film aims to highlight Charleson’s vitality rather than focusing solely on his illness.

In addition to ‘Elsinore’, Scott is preparing for the release of the historical film ‘Pressure’ on September 9, 2026, which will be presented at the Deauville American Film Festival. His recent career highlights include roles in ‘Ripley’, ‘Fleabag’, and ‘Sherlock’.
