Android leads global smartphone OS market share in Q2

According to a report from Counterpoint Research, global smartphone shipments declined by 11% in the second quarter compared to the same period last year, with the most significant drops occurring in entry-level and mid-tier segments in emerging markets.

Globally, Android maintains the largest market share at 75%, an increase from 73% in the first quarter. iOS holds a 20% share, down from 22% in Q1, while Huawei’s HarmonyOS remains steady at 5%.

Regional trends show significant variation:

• United States: iOS leads with a 51% share, while Android follows closely at 49%.

• China: Android remains the leader at 58%, though its share decreased from 63% in Q1. HarmonyOS has risen to second place with a 24% share, surpassing iOS, which holds 18%.

• India: Android dominates the market with a 91% share, while iOS holds 9%.
