Andrés Barquero Dembo found dead in São Paulo hotel

Authorities in São Paulo, Brazil, are investigating the death of Andrés Barquero Dembo, a 44-year-old Venezuelan-American businessman. His body was discovered on September 3 inside a room at the Sheraton São Paulo WTC hotel in the southern zone of the city.

The Civil Police of Brazil have formally opened an investigation under the classification of a “suspicious death,” with the case assigned to the 96th Police Precinct (Cidade Monções). However, preliminary forensic examinations suggest the death may have been due to natural causes, as investigators found no signs of physical aggression on the body or evidence of a struggle within the hotel room.

The management of the Sheraton São Paulo WTC issued a statement expressing condolences and confirming their full cooperation with law enforcement. The hotel noted it is providing assistance to those affected while maintaining confidentiality out of respect for the family's privacy. Official causes of death are pending final forensic reports.
