Andrzej Żurkowski Competition awards Mateusz Kaliński and Magdalena Ożarowska

The 13th edition of the Andrzej Żurkowski Competition for Young Theater Critics concluded at the Witold Gombrowicz Municipal Theater in Gdynia. The awards ceremony was held as part of the Gdynia Dramaturgical Award gala and the R@port Festival.

Mateusz Kaliński and Magdalena Ożarowska were named the winners of the competition. Kaliński received the President of Gdynia Award for his reviews, which were noted for their expansive essay-style approach that situated performances within the broader context of the creators' work.

The competition received 48 entries from 16 reviewers. The jury, chaired by Tomasz Miłkowski and including Sławomira Łozińska, Remigiusz Grzela, and Maciej Wojtyszko, selected five finalists: Aleksy Jakubiec, Mateusz Kaliński, Katarzyna Kowalska, Magdalena Ożarowska, and Martyna Szoja. The prize amounts, funded by the President of Gdynia and the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, increased this year from 5,000 to 7,000 PLN.
