Andy López defends Tabasco roots amid candidacy doubts
Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, the son of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, defended his connection to Tabasco while seeking a federal deputy seat for District 6. He said he never “deserted” the state despite living in Mexico City, pointing to frequent visits to his family ranch and businesses in Teapa and a formal request to change his electoral domicile to Tabasco.
López announced plans to address local issues such as chronic flooding and electricity costs, proposing a preferential tariff for the state. He also hinted at possible future aspirations for the Tabasco governorship, while rejecting accusations of favoritism within Morena and pledging to respect internal candidate selection results.
