Angine de Poitrine gains popularity and divides music community

Canadian math rock duo Angine de Poitrine, consisting of Khn de Poitrine and Klek de Poitrine, has experienced a rapid rise in popularity following a viral KEXP radio session in February. The duo is currently on a sold-out tour ending in mid-December, with a world tour planned for 2027 in larger venues.

Musician Steven Wilson has praised the group in an interview with Classic Rock, describing their ability to bring atonal math rock and microtonal guitar to a mainstream audience as “genius.” Wilson noted that while the music attracts fans of electronic, dance, progressive, and post-rock, its dissonant and angular nature may alienate traditional classic rock listeners.

Other musicians have offered varying perspectives on the duo; Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush have praised their talent, while Devin Townsend has expressed skepticism regarding the surrounding hype.
