Angola authorizes $73M for tourism and seeks Brazilian agribusiness partnerships
Angolan President João Lourenço has authorized $73 million for the development of infrastructure within the Okavango Tourism Development Pole in the Cuando Cubango province. The project, located near the Namibian border, aims to establish integrated networks for energy, water, sanitation, telecommunications, and road systems to support ecotourism and nature-based activities such as river cruises and bird watching.
In a separate economic development move, the Angolan government met with a delegation of Brazilian business leaders to discuss partnerships in the animal protein sector. Discussions focused on potential investments in poultry and egg production. Brazilian agribusiness representatives expressed interest in using Angola as a base for regional food security and international exports, though they noted that regulatory and financing challenges remain for investors.
