Angola civil service monthly salary costs reach 245 billion kwanzas

Angola's civil service salary expenditures have reached 245 billion kwanzas (approximately 229.2 million euros) per month, according to the government. The State Secretary for Public Administration, Domingos Filipe, reported that the total number of public employees and administrative agents in the country has risen to 437,157, representing a 2.47% increase in staff compared to 2024.

The education sector accounts for the largest portion of the workforce at 52.46%, followed by the health sector at 20.48%. The annual projected cost for civil service salaries is estimated at 3.4 trillion kwanzas (3.1 billion euros).

Additionally, a process to update categories for 59,375 employees under a special regime—covering health, education, and justice sectors—is underway following a memorandum of understanding between the government and unions. This integration is expected to cost an estimated 58.7 billion kwanzas and is projected to be completed by the first half of 2027.
