Angola delegates ecotourism concessions to Environment and Tourism ministries

President João Lourenço has delegated authority to the Ministers of Environment and Tourism to jointly manage the concession of spaces for ecotourism activities within Environmental Conservation Areas, such as national parks and natural reserves.

Under Presidential Decree No. 382/26, the two ministries are empowered to make decisions, approve procedures, award contracts, and verify the legality of these acts. The initiative aims to attract private investment to nature tourism, increase tourist flow, create local employment, and promote biodiversity conservation.

The Ministry of Environment is responsible for delimiting the zones designated for ecotourism, while the Ministry of Tourism will promote and advertise investment opportunities. Fees for the use of these spaces must be approved by the Ministries of Finance, Environment, and Tourism.
