Angola inaugurates new Convention Palace in Luanda

President João Lourenço has inaugurated a new Convention Palace in Luanda, Angola, following an investment of approximately 290 billion kuanzas (nearly 280 million euros). The facility is designed to bolster the country’s business and event tourism sector by providing professional infrastructure for international gatherings.

The new complex features a 3,000-seat amphitheater and 12 meeting rooms. It is expected to host the 21st extraordinary session of the African Union Heads of State and Government conference.

During the inauguration, President Lourenço called for increased private sector investment in the hospitality industry, noting that Luanda currently lacks sufficient hotel capacity to meet growing demand. He highlighted that recent economic reforms, including visa exemptions for citizens of approximately 90 countries and efforts to reduce bureaucracy, are part of a broader strategy to improve the national business environment.
